the female gender are encouraged to apply.
Length
At this time, Viscera only accepts short films. The submitted films must range from 20 seconds to 30 minutes. We suggest that beginning filmmakers start out small (20 seconds to 5 minutes) in order to create quality, not quantity.
Submission Fee
There is no submission fee. YAY!
Format
We have gone digital!
After years of sorting through torn packages, submissions getting lost in the mail, and filmmakers paying too much for shipping charges, Viscera has decided to take the smart leap to make it easier (and cheaper) for ourselves and for the submitting filmmakers.
Moreover, this allows celebrity judges such as Mary Lambert, Mick Garris, Lucky McKee, Drew Daywalt, Allison Anders, Katt Shea, and Elizabeth Stanley to watch your film while they take a break from working on their next project.
We only accept digital submissions through www.vimeo.com. This will ensure that your film looks professional and the judges can view it in HDV, if needed.
Paperwork
A completed Official Entry Form must be emailed with every film entry. It is at your discretion to sign the Non-Exclusive Contract.
If the contract is signed, Viscera Film Festival will reserve the right to distribute your film on a compilation DVD. Viscera is a non-profit organization and does not make any money from the use of your film, however, please read the contract before you sign it. It protects both Filmmaker and Viscera Film Festival.
Email your submission forms to

Screening
If accepted, your film must screen at Viscera's Los Angeles Event first, before any other female-based genre festival in the L.A. area. This is to ensure that the audiences will see fresh and diverse material at Viscera.
Our policy is, one month after Viscera's L.A. Carpet Ceremony, your film may screen at any other female-based genre film festival in the Los Angeles area.
Copyright
You must be the Copyright Owner of the submitted film.
Copies of talent, location, and music releases/agreements may be required for distribution.
Deadline
In accordance with Women in Horror Recognition Month, the final Deadline is February 29th, 2012 at 11:59 PM.
